1. Who we are
ContactLink.io Marketplace Sync ("the extension") is a Chrome extension made by 1001718522 Ontario Inc., operating as ContactLink.io, Units 7 & 9A, 871 Equestrian Court, Oakville, Ontario L6L 6L7, Canada.
It is used only by ContactLink.io clients ("the Client"), such as car dealerships, who connect it to their own ContactLink.io CRM account. This policy covers the extension. Our general privacy policy covers the rest of our service.
2. What the extension reads
The extension only acts on Facebook Marketplace inbox pages, in the browser where the Client installed it. From those pages it reads:
- the buyer's name and the listing the conversation is about;
- the messages in each Marketplace conversation, and when they were sent;
- photos, videos and voice notes sent in those conversations.
It does not read other Facebook pages, other websites or browsing history, and it never sees or stores the Facebook password.
3. What it sends, and where
- Buyer messages, photos, videos and voice notes go to the Client's own ContactLink.io CRM account, through ContactLink.io's connection service. The CRM shows them as a conversation with the buyer.
- The connection service keeps copies of photos, videos and voice notes so the CRM can display them, plus short records of which conversations and messages were already sent, so nothing is sent twice.
- Every few minutes the extension also reports whether it is working: switched on or off, whether the inbox is open, whether Facebook is logged in, how many conversations it can see, and its version. This report contains no message content. ContactLink.io uses it only to tell the Client when the extension stops working.
4. What it writes
If the Client switches sending on, the extension types replies, photos and videos written in the CRM by the Client's staff into the matching Messenger conversation. Buyers see them as coming from the Facebook profile the extension runs on. Sending is off unless the Client turns it on.
5. What is stored in the browser
The extension saves its settings, including the connection code that links it to the Client's CRM account, and a list of conversations it has already handled. These stay in that browser and are deleted when the extension is removed.
6. Where data is stored
The connection service and the CRM run on servers in the United States, operated by our service providers: our hosting provider and our CRM platform. Data held outside Canada may be subject to the laws of the country where it is held, including lawful access by its authorities. We require our providers to protect it to a standard comparable to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
7. How the data is used
Only to provide this feature to the Client: showing Marketplace conversations in the Client's CRM, sending the Client's replies, and alerting the Client when the extension stops working.
We never sell this data, never use it for advertising or profiling, and never use it for any purpose unrelated to this feature. The use of information received from this extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
8. Who controls it
The Client is responsible for its own privacy obligations to the buyers it messages.
9. Keeping and deleting it
Data is kept while the Client uses the service. The Client can stop the extension at any time by removing it from Chrome.
The Client can ask us at info@contactlink.io to delete synced Marketplace conversations and their photos, videos and voice notes. Conversations are deleted whole, not message by message. When the Client's account closes, its data is deleted.
10. If you messaged a business
If you messaged a business that uses ContactLink.io on Facebook Marketplace and want your information accessed, corrected or deleted, contact that business. You can also email us at info@contactlink.io and we will pass your request on and help them answer it.
